Discuss the quality of the artwork: Its pretty decent, the book bag is in good proportion to the ant.

Discuss what attracted you to the piece: Its humorous.  It takes a fact, that is somewhat interesting and uses it to sell their product, buy saying that their book-bags are so good if ants could use them, they could carry twice as much.

Describe what it is: Its the dvd cover for a documentary, "Invisible Children".

Describe its function: To intrigue people to want to watch it.

Describe where you saw it: My roommate owns the dvd.

Discuss the style of the design and typography: The design is modern, I think the typography fits the image very well. Its kind of rough, which goes with the documentary.

Discuss the quality of the artwork: It is very well done. It definitely would spark anyone's attention. The child holding the gun is very provocative and the Title and the words,"discover the unseen", are somewhat mysterious if you are not completely familiar with the dvd.

Discuss what attracted you to this piece: When I first saw this, I aromatically wanted to watch it, I was not completely sure of exactly what it was about, but the cover draws you in.

Describe what it is: An advertisement for dog treats on a bus.

Discuss the style of the design and typography: Im not really sure what the style of the design is.

Discuss the quality of the artwork: I believe the design is very believable. The man on the back of the bus looks very real.

Discuss what attracted you to the piece: I thought it was pretty funny.

Discuss the style of the design and typography: I would say that it is digital. I think the typography reflects the Futurists, as they started using typography in itself to make a statement.

Discuss the quality of the artwork- I think its very effective. The bottom reads,"If you really want to touch someone send them a letter." Then it shows litterally the letter reaching out and hugging this woman. Its trying to show how much more personal a letter is than say an email.

Discuss what attracted you to this piece: I really like how it was put together overall, the design and the message.

Describe what it is- A 2012 Olympics poster from London.

Describe its function- To promote the 2012 Olympics.

Describe where you saw it- I found it on the internet, when looking at olympic logos.

Discuss the style of the design and typography- I would definitely say (and hopefully be right), that this is Swiss/International. Its very clean, and looks like it was done on a grid.

Discuss the quality of the artwork- I think it is very nicely done. Its very aesthetically appealing. Its also very catchy. They incorporate the Olympic rings within the word London. The slogan on the bottom says,"We've got the Olympics in us!".

Discuss what attracted you to this piece- I was attracted to is, because it went with what we recently studied and I liked the design.

Its a wonderful life..

Describe what it is- Its one of the original posters for "Its a Wonderful Life"

Describe its function- When this was being used, its purpose was to get people to want to go and see that movie.

Describe where you saw it- I was originally going to do the newer cover for the edition of its a wonderful life that i have at home, so when i went to look up a picture for it, I found this as well and found it very interesting.

Discuss the style of the design and typography- I believe that this poster is very American Kitsch (help me out on this im not quite sure).

Discuss the quality of the artwork.- I believe its very well done. The typography is playful and fits well with the happy manner in which the couple is posed.

Discuss what attracted you to this piece- I really enjoy this movie. Its one of my favorites. When I saw the original movie poster, it attracted me because its true to the time that it was made. Where as the newer movie cover looks somewhat newer. I also find it kind of humerous, when looking at this poster, you would almost think it was a comedy from the playfullness of everything, when in fact its a somewhat serious movie.

Modonna

Describe what it is- the cover to Modonna's new cd

Describe its function- To show people that Modonna is still hip and make them want to buy the cd.

Describe where you saw it- In my roommate's car.

Discuss the style of the design and typography- I would say that its digital. There is alot of overlapping, rough edges, and distressed textures.

Discuss the quality of the artwork- I would say its decent, she kinda looks washed out, the design behind her looks pretty cool though.

Discuss what attracted you to the piece- I was attracted to it, because it amazed me that even though she is in her forties, they did a good job of making her look young and hip. People would get a totally different impression of the cd if the cover had been done differently.

Ed Hardy

Describe what it is- Its the back of a sweatshirt designed by Ed Hardy.

Describe its function- To look trendy and make people want to buy it.

Describe where you saw it- My roommates bought some of his shirts, so I looked up some of his designs and found this on the internet.

Discuss the style of the design and typography- I have no idea how to classify this style, I read that alot of his designs are influenced by oldschool tattoos. There is no typography.

Discuss what attracted you to this piece- I really liked his designs, and this one particularly. Its something that I would buy for myself. I love the colors, and the representations of the "tattoo" like illustrations.

Prismacolors

Describe what it is- Its the cover to a colored pencil set that I use in some art classes.

Describe its function- To sell colored pencils.

Discuss the style of the design and typography- I think that the style may be American Kitsch. The typography to me seems somewhat art noveau because it is very geometric.

Discuss the quality of the artwork- I think the way they went about it was a good idea. It appears that they could have made the image on the front actually using their colored pencils.

Discuss what attracted you to this peice- This piece really caught my eye because of again, the illustration on the front.

New Moon

Describe what it is- It is a book cover for a book in a very popular book series, "Twilight".

Describe its function- To capture people's eye in the book store and get you to pick it up and find out what the book is about.

Describe where you saw it- I bought the book not too long ago.

Discuss the style of the design and the typography-Im not sure what style it is, but if I had to guess i would say that it is contemporary for its simplicity and the clean typography.

Describe the quality of the artwork- I believe the artwork is very well done, its simple but yet still appealling. The falling pettle almost looks like a drop of blood, which somewhat applys to the book.


Discuss what attracted you to the piece- I would have to say that the rich colors and the mysteriousness of the cover is what attracted me.

What is it? I was watching tv, and a target commercial came on, it got me thinking about how alot of their ads recently have been very creative, so i looked some up on the internet and here are a few. 

Decribe its function- to get people to shop at Target.

Discuss the style of the artwork, I believe that they are digital. 

Discuss the quality of the artwork- I think that all of these ads are very neatly and creatively done. I like the first one, because the target sign appears where a sun would normally be. I like the second one,  because it takes two images that would not normally go together in an ad, but are both something that you can buy at Target and arranges them in a way that they do go together, the toilet paper almost starts to look like a scarf.

Describe what it is- Its and Absolute Vodka Advertisement.

Describe its function- To be humerous and to get people to buy their product.

Describe where you saw it- Well their advertisement are always funny, so i googled them and found this on the internet.

Discuss the style of the design and typography- I believe that both the style and typography are contemperary.

Discuss the quality of the work- I believe it gets the joke acrossed very well, as for difficulty this looks like it didnt take very long to do at all.

Discuss what attracted you to the piece- I would say the humor in the piece is definately what attracted me.

Ipod Nano

Describe what it is- Its an advertisement for the new Ipod Nano.

Describe its function- To attract people to the Nanos color, and to get them to buy it.

Describe where you saw it- I saw it on my homepage apple.com on my computer on the internet.

Discuss the style of the design and typography- I would say that the style is digital because of the drips that come down from the ipods. The typography goes well with the piece as a whole, its very simple and picks up the colors from the ipods.

Discuss the quality of the artwork- I believe that it is very well done. Without the drips from the ipod, it would not be as appealing. The drips make you think about how much color there is with the new ipods, almost too much for them to contain.

Discuss what attracted you to this piece- I was very attracted to this piece just because its so visually stimulating, you cant miss it when its up on your computer screen, which is great for advertising. Also i loved how they did the "paint drips" coming down from the ipods.
